I happened to come across a good deal on the Bananagrams game at Walgreens yesterday. They had about 20 of them or so on one of their clearance endcaps. Regularly priced at $ 14.99, they are marked down to $ 7.50. It gets great reviews on Amazon… Amazon reviews.

My local (PA) Lowes has 24 oz. Ecosmart organic grass/weed killer and garden insect killer for under a buck each (I believe one was about 65 cents, the other 90 cents). Pre-printed yellow clearance shelf tags, over a dozen of each on hand. This was already a great deal, but about 1/3 of them also had a $ 1.00 manufacturer’s coupon around the neck. The cashier apologized that she couldn’t actually pay me to take them off her hands, but did give them to me for free.

First of all this is not really a hot deal, I honestly did not know where to post this since I never really post on this site.

If you are a best buy “fan” that either has credit there or a rewards card, this will interest you.

The current best buy price for Optimus V is $ 129

WalMart.com has it for $ 99

I was concerned that BB would not price match the .com pricing from WalMart. The reps said they would not match a website unless it was in stock (it was not @ WalMart). The huge sign in BB states that they do not match other .com pricing.

Still, I gave it a shot. I brought in my print out of the WalMart.com site @ $ 99. For the record I had already purchased it at $ 129+tax earlier that day. The lady did not bother to call and make sure it was in stock at WalMart and simply refunded the $ 30 bucks.

All of the local WalMart stores were out of stock, or I would have bought it there. I rarely ever go to Best Buy but I will have to give them a +1 this time for having the item in stock and price matching without hesitation.

Anyway, try not to flame me too bad.

Ok so here is a little deal that may or may not apply to you. It requires a slight bit of work in Pre-Buying Gas Gift Cards.

Here in my location, 92708 zip code most of the Gas Stations, Shell, 76, Chevron & Mobil have 2 different prices on Gas. One for Cash Prices & one for Credit Prices.

Here is the current price today for the Shell

Most of us have Credit Cards that in certain months we get 5% CashBack, mine is the Chase Card & a Discover Card that I mostly use to get gas. Of course there is normally a $ 300 to $ 500 limit to the amount purchased in the 3 month cycle.

I received a couple Shell Gift Cards over the holidays and noticed that when you use a Gift Card, they charge you CASH prices when filling up. So it’s pretty simple. When my Credit Cards are offering CashBack specials on Gas, I just go to the Gas Station and buy multiple Gift Cards in Increments of $ 50 to my limit. If $ 500 is my limit on CashBack, I buy 10 $ 50 Gift Cards. This way I receive the perfect amount CashBack, $ 25, plus I get to save about $ .10 cents a gallon. $ .10 on $ 3.91 is about 2.6%.

So over the course of the $ 500 pre buy I would save about $ 13 + $ 25 CashBack for a total of $ 38 bucks. That’s a total of about 7.6% savings. It sounds like more work than it really its. If you can afford to prebuy some gift cards using all your credit cards, you can save a decent amount of money on something that is never on sale or discounted.

Obviously I know not all gas stations operate on this duo pricing scheme. That is why I put YMMV. I know they do here in my zip code, so if they do this at yours, it helps a little.
