If you’re looking for a great deal on a specific purchase, you’re probably knee deep in research – especially if it’s acostly investment like electronics or sports equipment. What you probably want is a website that can tell you where to get the best stuff for the best price. Enter, my friend Max Levitte and his website Cheapism.com, which offers not only reviews of the best and cheapest products on the market, but suggestions about where to get the product you’ve chosen for the lowest price. But is Cheapism the ultimate place to investigate products or just another website that will lengthen the research process? I put on my sleuthing hat to find out the truth.
For starters, I’ve got to take my hat off (the sleuthing hat, of course), to Cheapism for reviewing a remarkable range of products. I mean really – the site reviews everything from cheap ebook readers to the best lipsticks for your buck. Want to read about the best hotel chains? You’ll find reviews and suggestions on Cheapsim. Need cheap sunglasses to wear to your inexpensive hotel? Ditto.
But as a conscientious consumer, what I really love about Cheapism is the way it tells you whether it’s worth it to buy a less expensive model or whether it’s recommended to pay a bit more for better quality. For example, in their cheap mattress section, Cheapism’s editors write “Expert mattress reviews say the very cheapest mattresses — i.e., in the $200 price range — are not worth buying; they likewise suggest you avoid warehouse sales of no-name brands. “ In my humble opinion, that’s a rather brazen statement for a company striving to refine the bottom line. As I’ve mentioned many times, paying the lowest price doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting the best deal. Instead, you’ll need to make sure that you get the precise services you need for the best possible price. And I’m glad that Cheapism’s experts agree with me.
What I find most interesting about Cheapism is that the site doesn’t claim to review all of the products on its own. Instead, it relies upon the opinions of experts in the field and the reviews of other consumers in order to present comprehensive conclusions about a given market. While I find this honesty refreshing, I also find it fantastic, because it means that I’m not just reading one person’s judgment about a given product, but a conclusion that was well-researched and grounded in multiple valid opinions.
Cheapism is a great website for consumers looking to save both time and money on their next purchase. With Cheapism you can safely suppress your urge to read thousands of reviews and you can find the best prices on hundreds of products without having to check multiple stores or websites. And because in today’s world time is money, you’ll be saving double. Now that’s a sweet deal!
