It’s that time of year for fun in the sun and splashing about in the swimming pool.

To help you stay safe this summer, healthypools.org is offering free pool test kits.

Your kit will include test strips for checking the water’s pH and chlorine levels.

Water with too much chlorine can cause severe skin and eye irritation, while water without enough chlorine can serve as a breeding ground for germs that cause water borne illness.

Maintaining a proper pH level helps to assure that the free chlorine will be most effective at killing germs in the water.
